In any case, moves like this-free DLC, and hopefully a top-notch base game-are exactly what EA needs to do to restore gamer faith in the publisher after far too many misses in recent years.
It's also a terrific way to keep the hype strong for the film, not that the film needs a whole lot of help in that regard. I suspect Disney could launch Episode VII without any fanfare at all and it would still become one of the biggest grossing films of all time. Free DLC, on the other hand, is a great way to keep excitement and energy in a fledgling multiplayer game. EA has gotten in trouble in the past when they've released DLC either on day one or in the weeks just following a game's launch and charged for it.
